Love at First Sight

Are you looking to adopt a puppy in the Nashville area? Check out Love at First Sight! Love at First Sight is a pet adoption center with both puppies and kittens. They have been sending healthy puppies and kittens to homes since 1995! Since then, they have adopted over 8,500 pets to loving families around Nashville, TN. New pets are added to their website and socials each week.

Their Story

Nashville veterinarians, Dr. Craig Prior and Dr. Grif Haber wanted to put an end to the stray and abandoned pets they saw in Middle Tennessee. Love at First Sight was created in 1995 to spread awareness on the issue of pet overpopulation and to educate pet owners on the importance of spaying and neutering. A majority of Love at First Sights pets come from families in Tennessee who had an unexpected litter. The pets also come from other shelters assisting in the overflow of puppy and kitten litters. Just across the street from Love at First Sight is VCA Murphy Road Animal Hospital. All of Love at First Sights animals are examined here, prior to being accepted for adoption. Once these pets are accepted, they are vaccinated with all the necessary vaccines.

The Process

Their website breaks down important notes on what the adoption process looks like. I like that they do not include the application to fill out online anywhere, which incentivizes people to come in to meet their pet before filling out the paperwork. I think this is important in assuring that you get paired best with the pet as well as reassuring the shelter that the pet is going to a safe home. Other adoption requirements include being at least 21 years of age. This is standard for most shelters. Once your application is filled out, they require you to bring in all household members, roommates, or other pets. This is done to make sure that everyone gets along and most importantly that the pets, play together in a safe manner.

Referring back to last week’s blog, Emily made it her mission to find the dogs she fostered a new home. While this is ideal, not everyone wants to go out of their way to post and figure this out. Love at First Sight provides an email you can send information regarding the pet that needs to be rehomed. Yes, this brings the pet back to a shelter, but it’s this shelter’s mission to provide the pet with all the resources it needs to be healthy and rehomed soon.

Pricing

Love at First Sight’s pricing is affordable and convenient with their monthly plan that covers the total costs of adoption. For both puppies and kittens, females are priced higher than males. There is also a one-time enrollment fee of $49.99. After these expenses are covered, you can expect all these benefits. For the puppy plan: unlimited wellness exams at VCA Murphy Road, all rounds of vaccines, spay/neuter procedure, pre-surgical bloodwork, microchip, 2 fecal exams, and 3 deworming treatments. This makes the cost of the puppy (between $80-85/month for the first year), and the one-time fee all worth it. The pricing is ranged very similarly for kittens.
